How to log on to Windows 7 as an administrator

An administrator is a user of a system who can make effective changes, modify settings on a computer that will affect other users of the computer or network. Only Administrators is authorized to change security settings, install software and hardware, access all files on the computer, delete or remove applications and make changes to other user accounts. To log on as an administrator, you need to have a user account on the computer with an Administrator’s powers.
 
How to log on to Windows 7 as an administrator
If you are not sure about the account that you have on the computer is an administrator’s account. If it is not an administrator’s account, you can’t login as an Administrator. You also need to know, whether your computer is on a domain or a workgroup. Find here weather your computer is on a workgroup or domain.

 

There are Four ways of logging in to Windows 7 as administrator-

1   At Startup – At the time of booting your computer Windows 7 displays the name of users and the user who wants to login has to click on his icon. If you are an Administrator, click on your icon and the windows welcome screen like this will appear.

Type the user password for your account in the Welcome screen.


2   Through Control Pannel - Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button>click Control Panel>click User Accounts and Family Safety>click User Accounts>and then click Manage another account.   If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.


3   Press CTRL+ALT+Delete  Press CTRL+ALT+Delete, now the following screen will appear.

Clock ‘Switch User’, the icons of all the registered users will appear. 

Click the icon of the administrator, 

you will be prompted for Administrator’s password. 

Enter the password and login


 

4   Through Command prompt - Open the command prompt by clicking the Start>All Programs>Accessories

Right-click Command Prompt 

then select Run as administrator, 

you may be prompted for Administrator’s password. 

Enter the password.

Now the command prompt will appear like this -

Type ‘net user administrator /active:yes’ and press Enter.
