Microsoft Office Word it is a very important tool designed by Microsoft Corporation. It is a tool used by the largest number of people and offices for communication purposes. It provides a large number of functions and shortcuts to increase the speed and efficiency of the user. I am giving below some of the  most useful functions and shortcuts which are not used or rarely used by the user.

1.    Shortcut to Change Case(Shift+F3)

To change the case of text, means changing from small letters to Capital or capital to small, please Select the text you want to change case and press and hold Shift Key, now press F3. The case of the selected text will change. It will keep on changing as you press F3 again and again. Leave the shift key when desired change has taken place.

2.    Inbuilt word Calculator

Microsoft Office has an inbuilt calculator. The inbuilt calculator is capable of performing basic mathematical calculations. For this First you need to open Quick access toolbar in the Word Options and add the calculate command. To perform a calculation while writing a document please Write the math string, then select it and click calculator. The result will be shown in the status bar.

3.    Fast Moving To multiple edited places (CTRL+F5)

You are working on a very large file. During this you have edited your document it at various places but you can not remember the spots where you edited recently because of too many number of places meditate. Don't worry microsoft Word will do it for you. Just Press CTRL+F5 and word it self will take you to the text you edited.

4.    The Quick Triple click function

Sometimes while writing a document we need to to select a whole paragraph. This can easily be done with the help of a simple shortcut. Just Triple Click any where in the Paragraph area and the whole paragraph will be selected at once.

5.    Place multiple Items on clip board at a time and paste them(CTRL+F3 and Ctrl+Shift+F3)

You can select multiple Items one by one at a time and place them on clip board to paste them else where in your document or even in another document. The procedure is, Select a paragraph, image or table, Press CTRL+F3,. Select more paragraphs, images or tables in the same manner. Now go to the place where you want to paste these and press Ctrl+Shift+F3. Your selected material will appear at the new desired place. Please note that it may it really you selected will appear at the new place in the order you selected them usingCTRL+F3 function.

6.    Remove Text Formatting(CTRL+Space Bar)

Some times we import a snippet from a web page or from some other source which may have a different type of formatting. To convert it to normal text select the text, press and hold CTRL Key  and press space Bar (however Hyper Links may not be removed).

7.    Very easy to type Unicode of Indian Rupee Symbol

 If you want to write some amount of currency you may need to write the Indian Rupee symbol. Now it is simple in Microsoft Word. Press left side Alt key and then type 8377 on the numeric pad. You'll get {₹} symbol.

8.    Select Full Sentence(CTRL+Click)

While creating a Microsoft Word document if you need to select an entire sentence, it is very simple, just Press and hold the CTRL key and click any where in the sentence, the entire sentence will be selected.

9.    Vertical Text Selection(Alt)

Normally select words. lines or block horizontally but do you know You can select a vertical block also in any Microsoft Office Word document. For this Press and hold the Alt Key and select the desired area or a vertical block.

10. Start writing Any where on the page(Double Click)

While writing a document sometimes we need to use the word page as plain white board. you can easily do it with the help of the Microsoft Word double click function. You can start writing any where on the page. Just Double Click on the page from where you want to resume writing.

11. Move text without right-click or the ctrl+X, ctrl+V (F2 and Enter)

Cut+paste or Ctrl+X Paste To move a certain portion of text you need not to Cut+paste or Ctrl+X Paste. Just select the text to be moved press F2, Take the cursor to the desired place and press Enter. The selected text will be moved.

12.  F8: Enter selection mode.

While in this mode, you can use the arrow keys to extend your selection. You can also press F8 up to five times to extend the selection outward. The first press enters selection mode, the second press selects the word next to the insertion point, the third selects the whole sentence, the fourth all the characters in the paragraph, and the fifth the whole document. Pressing Shift+F8 works that same cycle, but backwards. And you can press Esc any time to leave selection mode. It takes a little playing with to get the hang of it, but it’s pretty fun!

13. Ctrl+Shift+F8

Selects a column. Once the column is selected, you can use the left and right arrow keys to extend the selection to other columns.

14. Shift+F7

Open the thesaurus. If you have a word selected, Shift+F7 looks up that word in the thesaurus.

15. Shift+Up/Down Arrow

Select the cell in the row above or below the insertion point or selection. Keep pressing this combo to keep selecting more cells. If you have multiple cells in a row selected, this combo selects those same cells in the row above or below.

16. Alt+Ctrl+Page Up/Page Down

Move to the top or bottom of the current window

17. Shift+F5

Cycle through the last three locations where the insertion point was placed. If you just opened a document, Shift+F5 moves you to the last point you were editing before closing the document.

20. Alt+Shift+R

Copy the header or footer used in the previous section of the document

21. Shift+F3

Cycle through case formats for your text. Available formats are sentence case (capital first letter, everything else lower case), lowercase, uppercase, title case (first letter in each word capitalized), and toggle case (which reverses whatever’s there).

22. Ctrl+hyphen (-)

Insert an optional hyphen or en dash. An optional hyphen tells Word not to use a hyphen, unless the word breaks at the end of a line. If it does, Word will use a hyphen where you placed it.

23. Ctrl+Shift+hyphen (-)

Insert a non-breaking hyphen. This tells Word not to break a word at the end of a line, even if there’s a hyphen there. This would be useful, for example, if you included something like a telephone number and wanted to make sure it all appeared on one line.
