In some parts of the world, coal is still being used as the primary source of domestic fuel and inhalation of coal and burnt wood fumes are dangerous and may cause a specific type of cancer called the "chimney sweep cancer".

Effect of Radiation

Out of all the cancer cases almost 10 per cent are caused by aggressive radiation from any source such as natural radon gas, imaging technology or nuclear accidents.

Breathing in polluted air

Air pollution is a great problem worldwide. The ambient air pollution separates components known for causing lung cancer. Air pollution is more severe and hazardous in some countries in comparison with others

Excessive consumption of alcohol

Alcohol if consumed as per the doctor’s advice strictly following the quantity as advised by the  doctor may not be harmful but heavy drinking may cause breast, colorectal, throat, liver, esophagus, oral cavity and pharynx cancer. Drinking is also associated with pancreatic cancer.

Sun beds or tanning beds or sun tanning beds

Sun tanning beds are the devices which emit ultra violet radiation as high as 95 percent UVA and 5 percent UVB. These devices release ultraviolet radiation that increases the risk of developing skin cancer, especially among young people.

Ultraviolet radiation produced by sun rays

The rays in sunlight are also known to be a cause of skin cancer and prolonged exposure to sun rays may lead to both basal cell and squamous cell cancer.

Non smoking tobacco products

It is not true that Cancer is only caused by smoking cigarettes or other type of smoking and it is not caused by smokeless tobacco products. Water, sand and chemicals are injected into the rock at high pressure which allows the gas flow out to the head of the well. The air, and the mixture of water and soil release toxic chemicals like Benzene, acrylamide and formaldehyde which are carcinogens and known to cause cancer,

Chemicals used by industries

Wall paints may contain chemicals like benzene, lead chromate and asbestos, leather dust, benzene and other solvents in leather industries, harvesting of latex from certain trees by rubber industries, chemical  used in the manufacture of PVC (polyvinyl chloride),  saw dust in wood and furniture industries, chemicals used in aluminum industries, Mixtures of untreated or mildly treated mineral oils, inhaling of asbestos used for insulating and Coal gasification are responsible for causing cancer of various type.

Arsenic in drinking water and Aristolochic

Seepage of the highly toxic chemical arsenic from manufacturing industries can contaminate drinking water and Aristolochic found naturally in the plants Aristolochia and Asarum used in Chinese herbal medicine are known to cause cancer.

Exposure to sulfuric acid vapors

The condensation of sulfuric acid vapor forms Aerosols and exposure to it is highly responsible to cause lung cancers.

Nuclear radiation

People employed in nuclear energy plants are exposed to radiation 20 times more than general public or the permitted level. As such their chance of having leukemia are also 20 times higher than the general public.
